Fantasy Football: QB Rankings
SeaTown Sports previews all the position groups to get you ready for Fantasy Football season
Quarterbacks are the highest paid position in football and maybe the most over-drafted in fantasy football. Do you like taking a sure thing in the 1st or 2nd round? Do you wait until kickers or defenses are going off the board to take Kirk Cousins? Whatever your strategy, we have you covered.
Tier 1
Jalen Hurts, Eagles
Lamar Jackson, Ravens
Josh Allen, Bills
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs
Hurts, Jackson and Allen provide the necessary rushing yards and rushing TDs that provide incredible value. Mahomes is just Mahomes and I think he will be better this year.
Tier 2
Joe Burrow, Bengals
CJ Stroud, Texans
Dak Prescott, Cowboys
Most fantasy sites will include Anthony Richardson in this range, but his injury risk and lack of actual quarterback ability worry me. These other three QBs seem like a sure thing to have a really good season with a lot of yards and plenty of TDs. Call it the “safe zone”.
Tier 3
Anthony Richardson, Colts
Jordan Love, Packers
Kyler Murray, Cardinals
Call this the tier that I won’t be drafting. Richardson could win the league for you if he rushes for like 800 yards. Or he could not. Murray is the 5th highest ranked QB in fantasy since 2019 but has played 33 total games over the past three seasons. Love might be the safest here.
Tier 4
Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins
Jared Goff, Lions
Brock Purdy, 49ers
While this tier could be also named the “safe zone”, each one of these QBs has a scenario where they suck. Most fantasy sites will have at least two of the rookie QBs (Daniels and Williams) above these guys. Go ahead and take a rookie QB. Did you know that over the past 10 years, rookie QBs average an end of season QB fantasy rank of 26th? Enjoy.
Tier 5
Caleb Williams, Bears
Jayden Daniels, Commanders
This is the shooting for the moon tier. If these guys hit, it will be really fun. I am going to let other people draft them. Might consider moving up in a dynasty draft.
Tier 6
Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars
Matthew Stafford, Rams
Justin Herbert, Chargers
The tier of quarterbacks who were top 5 guys at one point but everyone is terrified now.
Tier 7
Geno Smith, Seahawks
Aaron Rodgers, Jets
Actually if I waited this long, I don’t feel that bad about having either one. I’d much rather have Geno since Rodgers is 40 years old and coming off a torn achilles.
Not ranked but go for it if you want: Kirk Cousins (Falcons), Will Levis (Titans), DeShaun Watson (Browns), Baker Mayfield (Bucs), Bo Nix (Broncos), Daniel Jones (Giants), Justin Fields (Steelers - if he wins job or maybe even if back up)
Stash for dynasty leagues: Michael Penix (Falcons)
