UW Men's Basketball Notebook: It Ain't Pretty
Week of January 13-19: Washington hosts #17 Purdue in their lone Big 10 contest this week
Overall Record: 10-7
Big 10 Record: 1-5
Net Ranking: 96
Last Week’s Recap
Washington is riding a three-game losing streak after dropping road contests to No. 16 Michigan State (88-54) and No. 24 Michigan (91-75).
The team’s loss to Michigan St. was brutal. The Huskies fell behind an incredible 42-13 in the first half. Washington shot a dismal 5-of-29 from the field in the first half. Tyler Harris led the Huskies with 14 points.
The Huskies appeared more competitive in their game against Michigan, but ultimately could not muster enough offense or defense to pull off an upset against Washington’s third-consecutive ranked opponent. Great Osobor scored a season-high 23 points and collected 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double this season.
Player of the Week
It is tough to choose a player of the week when the team gets crushed the way it did against the Michigan school, but we will give it to Great Osobor who put together an impressive game against Michigan. Sixteen of Osbor’s 23 points against Michigan came in the first half. This is even more impressive, considering the size disadvantage the 6-8 forward had to go up against, in the form of two seven-footers starring for Michigan.
Stat of the Week
The Huskies are 18th in offensive efficiency and 15th in defensive efficiency in Big 10 conference games. Gross.
This Coming Week
Washington hosts #17 Purdue on Wednesday at 6:30 pm (Big 10 network).
While Zach Edey is gone to the NBA, Braden Smith is somehow still at Purdue. The Boilermakers’ point guard recorded 14 assists (yes, 14!) in each of the last two games for Purdue. Smith ranks third in the country at 9.2 assists per game while scoring 15 points per contest. Junior Trey Kaufman-Renn is the leading scorer for Purdue at 17.5 points per game.

Recruiting Corner
2026 target SG Jason Crowe Jr. (6-2, 165 lbs) - Inglewood HS (Inglewood, CA)
On3 reports that Washington, Kentucky, Arkansas, Michigan, Miami, USC, and UCLA are recruiting Crowe Jr. The Huskies offered Crowe Jr. in late November of last year. The lefty can shoot off the dribble and aggressively attacks the basket on drives.
