UW Men's Basketball Notebook: More Competitive, More Losses
Week of January 27 - February 2: Washington travels to Minnesota for an early tip on Saturday
Overall Record: 10-10
Big 10 Record: 1-8
Net Ranking: 98
Last Week’s Recap
After dropping a Tuesday game to the Ducks on the road, the Huskies returned home to a fun Friday night crowd against UCLA. The Bruins proved to be too deep and too good defensively for the Huskies to get over the hump as Washington lost 65-60. This marked the sixth straight conference loss for the Dawgs, all to teams in the top 34 in net ranking.
Player of the Week
Great Osobor scored 20 points against Oregon on the road and 19 points at home versus a big UCLA team. Osobor averaged 8.5 rebounds and was 15 for 17 from the free throw line in the two games.
Stat of the Week
DJ Davis shot 2 of 12 from three point range in the two games this week. The guard was 11 of 22 from three in the three games before that, including 7 for 14 against Illinois.
This Coming Week
Washington travels to Minnesota on Saturday, February 1st for a 9:00 am tip (Big 10 network).
When will things get easier for the Dawgs? In theory, a game at Minnesota is winnable with the Golden Gophers holding a net rating of 104 and a 3-6 Big 10 record. However, Minnesota is riding a three game winning streak, including wins over Oregon and Michigan. Dawson Garcia leads Minnesota at 19.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game and put up 31 against the Ducks.
