Weekend Gambling Picks

May 25-27

The most important thing to know about betting on sports is that you need to gamble within your means. For example, if you are a “teacher”, one unit might be the equivilant of $5. But if you are a “high class, famous lawyer living in the Bay Area”, one unit might be $500. Either way, use only money you are willing to lose (think about the money you would use buying a weedwacker you don’t need or a dinner out you really don’t need to go to because you have food in the fridge).

Each weekend, you will get my best picks in a variety of sports. Tail them if you want. Fade them if you dare. Either way, this is all meant to be fun.

Lastly, go visit a local business to make your bets like the Muckleshoot Casino. Don’t do some weird offshore account thing that is actually illegal.

WNBA

Yep, that’s where we start. The WNBA is an untapped, undervalued market where there are some great lines.

Caitlin Clark over 5.5 rebounds vs. Las Vegas (5/25)

Clark has hit the over on this number in 4 of the last 5 games. Teams are also faceguarding Clark which is making it hard for her to contribute in the scoring column. Thus, she is finding other ways to contribute and she is an active rebounder.

Sabrina Ionescu over 4.5 rebounds vs. Minnesota (5/25)

This line is lower than it should be because Sabrina hasn’t rebounded as well the last three games (including only 1 versus Seattle) but I have a hunch she has a 7 or 8 rebound game today. Minnesota is playing well and is 4th in the league in rebounds. The Liberty are coming off a loss and Sabrina will be heavily involved in everything today.

Astros/Braves ML (5/25)

The Braves take on Mitch Keller of the Pirates who has been great lately. But when you dive in to the batter vs pitcher stats, Keller is in for a long day. Five of the regular starters in the Braves lineup absolutely torch Keller including Ronald Acuna and Austin Riley. For the Astros, they just own the Oakland A’s. And JP Sears doesn’t scare me. The Astros very much scare me as a Mariners fan.

Albert Suarez (Orioles) under 3.5 K’s vs. White Sox (5/25)

Suarez is a spot starter after Dean Kramer went on the injured list. The last time Suarez threw three innings was on May 12th and he recorded three strikeouts. I just don’t see him lasting long in this game as a reliever turned starter.

NBA

Minnestota Timberwolves ML (5/26)

The Wolves have been in both games down to the final few minutes against the Dallas Mavericks. Before the series, the Wolves were favorites. I just don’t see a scenario where the Wolves go down 3-0 in the series and home court doesn’t seem to matter anymore. (The Wolves won three games in Denver!)

Celtics-Pacers over 115 1st Half Points (5/25)

With Tyrese Haliburton likely out for the series, it would be easy to call this thing a wrap. But the Pacers just wont’t go down without a fight, especially at home. TJ McConnell is awesome at pushing pace and the Pacers are going to let that thing fly today. Not sure I am confident in a Pacers win but I like the pace to by fast and the points to be abundant.

Dallas Stars -1.5 vs. Edmonton (5/25)

There is really no logical reason to bet this. The Oilers only lose by one goal when they lose in the playoffs. The first game of this series went to overtime. But I think the Stars are good and will tie this series up. And if you are going to bet a team to win, you get way better odds on the puck line (+180).
